About this job

Are you highly proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and Rhino? Do you understand how buildings come together, from wood framing to custom millwork? Can you transform hand sketches and design intent into flawless construction documents?

We are looking for a talented Architectural Modeler to collaborate remotely with our client, a boutique architecture and construction firm based in Virginia, specializing in high-end modern and mid-century modern residential projects, including luxury custom homes, historic renovations, and extensive remodels. The principals will continue leading the design process, while you focus on developing high-quality construction documentation and supporting production throughout every stage of the project. You should be available to work Eastern Time for this full-time opportunity. Apply today!

BetterPros unlocks human potential by offering competitive compensation, flexibility, constant learning and growth, and the opportunity to work anywhere you want with one of our +130 active clients across the United States.

What you will do

  • Develop complete DD–CD sets of plans, including floor plans, sections, and elevations, based on the firm’s design intent.
  • Transform hand sketches and AutoCAD drawings into detailed construction documentation.
  • Build and maintain Revit models throughout the project lifecycle, generating floor plans, sections, elevations, and construction details from the BIM model and keeping it continuously updated as design changes occur.
  • Prepare permit sets to present to local authorities and complete CD sets for general contractors.
  • Pick up and implement redlines efficiently across SD and CD stages.
  • Develop highly detailed architectural drawings, including construction details, wall sections, window and roof details, millwork, custom cabinetry, interior detailing, and built-in furniture.
  • Coordinate production drawings while maintaining consistency between AutoCAD and Revit workflows, helping the firm gradually implement BIM methodology without disrupting its existing process.
  • Help create and organize a reusable architectural detail library to improve office efficiency.
  • Participate actively in the team’s daily workflow, collaborating closely with the principals and supporting multiple luxury residential projects simultaneously.

What you'll need to know

  • A bachelor’s degree in architecture.
  • 3+ years of experience as an Architectural Modeler, drafter, or production architect.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Rhino, with the ability to build and maintain BIM models.
  • Proven experience producing Construction Documents for US residential projects and working with US architecture firms.
  • A strong understanding of wood framing, residential construction, US construction standards, and the imperial system.
  • The ability to develop highly detailed production drawings and an excellent grasp of construction detailing.
  • An advanced English level.
  • High level of autonomy, strong self-management skills, and attention to detail.

A great plus

  • SketchUp knowledge.
  • BIM implementation experience.
  • Experience creating Revit templates.
