Architectural Interior Designer (Part Time, Oregon)

About this job

Are you a technically strong junior or intermediate interior designer who thrives on turning sketches, markups, and redlines into accurate, polished drawings and beautifully organized project documentation? We’re looking for an Architectural Interior Designer to join our client’s design team, based in Oregon, on a part-time, long-term basis. Apply today!

This is a production-focused role and the creative counterpart is already covered: our client leads the overall concept, design direction, client relationships, major selections, presentations, and site involvement, and you’ll be the person who translates those ideas and decisions into clean construction documents. The role starts between quarter-time and part-time, with real room to grow into more hours for the right fit.

BetterPros unlocks human potential by offering competitive compensation, flexibility, constant learning and growth, and the opportunity to work anywhere you want with one of our +130 active clients across the United States.

What you will do

  • Build and maintain accurate SketchUp models.
  • Produce high-quality Enscape renderings.
  • Draft interior elevations, cabinetry and millwork details, reflected ceiling plans, lighting plans, plumbing layouts, tile layouts, and finish details.
  • Translate the lead designer’s sketches, markups, and redlines into clean construction documents.
  • Create and maintain finish, fixture, appliance, and hardware schedules.
  • Organize selections and prepare polished client presentations.
  • Review documentation for inconsistencies, missing dimensions, and coordination issues.
  • Learn and apply the lead designer’s aesthetic and documentation standards, anticipating what’s needed and taking ownership of production over time.

What you'll need to know

  • A degree in Interior Design or Architecture (architecture background welcome, but the right candidate takes precedence).
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Enscape.
  • Proven experience working on residential (luxury) projects, ideally high-end custom homes.
  • Experience with cabinetry and millwork detailing, interior elevations, lighting and plumbing layouts, finish documentation, and specification schedules.
  • Familiarity with US construction methods, imperial dimensions, and residential documentation standards.
  • Strong graphic and presentation skills.
  • A detail-oriented, visually sensitive, and proactive approach, with comfort receiving direction and redlines rather than bringing an unrelated design style into the work.
  • Advanced English level and strong communication skills.

A great plus

  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Experience with additional rendering software such as Lumion or V-Ray.
  • Experience with Revit or other BIM software.
  • Availability to take on additional hours as the workload grows.
