— WHY OUTSOURCE BOOKKEEPING
Three patterns we see over and over.
Your books are always behind
Reconciliations skipped, transactions uncategorized for weeks, books that don't reflect reality. A dedicated bookkeeper closes the gap.
You're doing the books at 11pm
Founders shouldn't categorize Stripe deposits and chase receipts. A remote bookkeeper takes the recurring work off your plate.
You're a CPA firm with a backlog
Client books pile up before filings. We place vetted bookkeepers who work US hours and follow your firm's review process.

FAQs: know more about our bookkeeping services
What's the difference between your bookkeeping and your accounting services?
Bookkeeping is the recurring recording work: transactions, reconciliations, categorization, AR and AP entries. Accounting is the analysis and reporting on top of clean books: financial statements, GAAP application, audit support. Many clients start with a bookkeeper and add a senior accountant once the books are stable.
What accounting software do your bookkeepers work with?
Our bookkeepers are experienced across QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, FreshBooks, Wave, Sage 50, NetSuite, and Zoho Books. Many hold QuickBooks ProAdvisor or Xero Advisor certifications. We confirm your exact software during screening and match candidates accordingly.
Can they handle catch-up or cleanup bookkeeping?
Yes. Catch-up and cleanup is one of the most common engagements we place. Our bookkeepers rebuild multi-month or multi-year books, fix categorization errors, reconcile back-dated accounts, and prepare ledgers for tax season or external audit.
Can they handle bookkeeping for AEC and construction firms?
Yes. Our bookkeepers have experience with job costing entries, project-based categorization, WIP tracking, and AIA billing prep. They work inside QuickBooks Contractor, Sage 50, or your project accounting setup, and coordinate with your senior accountant or CPA on percentage-of-completion adjustments.
Do they work with e-commerce businesses?
Yes. We have bookkeepers experienced with Shopify, Amazon, Etsy, and other e-commerce platforms, including reconciliation through A2X, multi-channel revenue tracking, and sales tax setup across Avalara and TaxJar.
Can they prepare 1099s?
Yes. Our bookkeepers maintain vendor records throughout the year, collect W-9s, and prepare 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC documentation at year-end so filing is straightforward. Final review and filing typically stay with your CPA.
Can they manage sales tax?
Yes, for tracking and preparation. Our bookkeepers configure sales tax in Avalara, TaxJar, or your accounting software, monitor nexus thresholds, and prepare filings for your review. Final submission stays with your tax team or licensed preparer.
How is data security handled?
Your bookkeeper accesses your software through your standard security protocols: MFA, role-based permissions, and approved devices. BetterPros does not store your financial data on our infrastructure. For firms with SOC 2 or other compliance requirements, we confirm device and network setup during onboarding.
Can I start with one bookkeeper and add more later?
Yes. Most engagements start with one bookkeeper focused on a specific business or function and grow from there. CPA firms often start with one covering a few client accounts and expand as the workflow proves out. No minimum team sizes, no long-term commitments.
What if the bookkeeper isn't the right fit?
We replace them at no additional cost. Bookkeeping fit is specific: your software, your transaction volume, your categorization style, your reviewer’s preferences. If the match isn’t right after onboarding, we find someone who fits better.
