3D Architectural Artist (Flex, New Jersey)

About this job

Are you a talented, detail-oriented 3D Visualization Specialist who enjoys bringing high-end residential interiors to life through warm, realistic imagery? We’re looking for a skilled 3D Artist to join a New Jersey-based interior design firm specializing in high-end residential interiors, kitchens, and custom cabinetry. This is a flexible, project-based opportunity, starting with a test project with the goal of building a long-term collaboration with the same professional.

BetterPros unlocks human potential by offering competitive compensation, flexibility, constant learning and growth, and the opportunity to work anywhere you want with one of our +130 active clients across the United States.

What you will do

  • Review AutoCAD drawings, floor plans, elevations, and detailed design specifications provided by the client.
  • Convert 2D AutoCAD information into accurate and organized SketchUp models.
  • Create photorealistic renderings of kitchens, custom cabinetry, and other residential interior spaces.
  • Accurately represent the client’s design intent, including cabinetry design and detailing, materials and finishes, colors and textures, furniture and decorative elements, lighting fixtures, and
  • natural and artificial lighting.
  • Produce warm, comfortable, and realistic images that feel like an actual home rather than purely technical visualizations.
  • Use lighting, shadows, textures, styling, and composition to create a strong sense of mood and realism.
  • Incorporate client feedback and complete revisions as required.
  • Help the studio transition portions of its design workflow from AutoCAD to SketchUp.
  • Assist in building and organizing a reusable SketchUp library of cabinetry components, furniture, materials, finishes, lighting elements, and other interior design assets.
  • Coordinate directly with the client’s design team throughout each project.
  • Review each assignment before beginning and provide an estimated number of hours and expected delivery date, obtaining client approval before starting the work.
  • Communicate progress regularly and notify the client before exceeding an approved estimate or deadline.
  • Maintain organized files and consistent modeling and rendering standards across different projects.

What you'll need to know

  • Strong professional experience creating high-quality, photorealistic interior renderings.
  • Advanced proficiency in SketchUp and AutoCAD, with the ability to interpret architectural and interior design drawings and elevations.
  • Advanced proficiency in at least one rendering platform, such as Lumion, D5 Render, Enscape, V-Ray, or a comparable tool.
  • Demonstrated experience with residential interiors, preferably high-end kitchens and custom cabinetry.
  • Strong understanding of interior lighting, materials, textures, scale, composition, and visual storytelling.
  • Ability to create atmospheric, warm, client-facing images rather than only technically accurate renderings.
  • A portfolio demonstrating realistic interior visualization work.
  • Fluent English and the ability to communicate confidently with a U.S.-based client.
  • Previous experience working with U.S. clients or firms.
  • Ability to estimate hours accurately and work within approved time budgets.
  • Availability for an ongoing, project-based collaboration.

A great plus

  • Experience producing watercolor renderings, sketches, or walkthroughs in addition to still renders.
  • Experience working on luxury residential projects.
  • A collaborative mindset and comfort working closely with a small design team.
