What you will do

  • Act as the main point of contact between the firm’s principals and staff, answering day-to-day technical and workflow questions.
  • Oversee the work of a team of engineers and drafters (roughly 10–20 people at scale): assign tasks, review output, and ensure quality and production standards are met.
  • Perform and review structural engineering and Revit modeling work on residential and commercial projects.
  • Make sure models follow the architectural intent (e.g., using the architect’s Revit model as a background) and flag deviations before they cause rework.
  • Support South Florida compliance work by assessing existing unpermitted renovations and additions and engineering solutions to bring them up to code.
  • Coach and mentor junior staff, providing direct and timely feedback.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively with the client’s leadership team.

What you'll need to know

  • 15+ years of experience in structural engineering.
  • Proven management experience leading teams of engineers and drafters, and comfort acting as the link between leadership and staff.
  • Strong knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC).
  • Experience designing with wood framing, steel framing, and concrete.
  • Solid working knowledge of Revit and BIM (wall types, layers, dimensioning to structural cores, and coordination with architectural models).
  • Ability to balance hands-on engineering work with project management.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

A great plus

  • Experience with the Florida Building Code.
  • Experience on projects in the United States.
  • Experience with block/masonry construction.
