Autocad Drafter (Part Time, New Jersey)

About this job

Are you a production-focused AutoCAD Drafter with deep roots in residential architecture who thrives working independently at a high level of craft and precision? Do you enjoy taking a project from schematic direction all the way to permit-ready documentation — and doing it with clean, well-coordinated drawings that don’t need to be redone? We’re looking for a semi-senior to senior-level architectural professional to support a U.S.-based studio specializing in Single Family Residential projects — a part-time, remote opportunity starting at approximately 4 hours per day, with room to grow. This position should be aligned with a LATAM time zone compatible with Eastern Time. Apply now!

BetterPros unlocks human potential by offering competitive compensation, flexibility, constant learning and growth, and the opportunity to work anywhere you want with one of our +130 active clients across the United States.

What you will do

  • Support architectural production across all project phases — from SD through full CD sets — for Single Family Residential projects in the U.S.
  • Produce clean, well-coordinated drawing sets in AutoCAD including floor plans, sections, elevations, and construction details.
  • Translate design intent, redlines, sketches, and watercolors into accurate, buildable documentation.
  • Prepare permit-ready sets for submission to local U.S. authorities, following established drawing standards.
  • Work closely with the firm principal, supporting multiple residential projects simultaneously and flagging inconsistencies proactively.
  • Execute drawings independently once direction is provided, asking clarifying questions when needed to stay on track.
  • Maintain drawing consistency, file organization, and version control across all active sets.
  • Support DD-phase deliverables including walkthroughs and 3D modeling as needed.
  • Use Bluebeam for markup review and document coordination alongside AutoCAD.

What you'll need to know

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field.
  • Semi-senior to senior-level experience in architectural production, with a strong residential portfolio.
  • Deep proficiency in AutoCAD — comfortable producing full construction document sets independently.
  • Solid understanding of wood frame and timber frame construction methods.
  • Experience with construction details and technical documentation for U.S. residential projects.
  • Ability to work within established standards and adapt to the client’s workflow and templates.
  • Reliable communication, responsiveness, and a consistent, predictable weekly schedule.
  • Advanced English level with clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a production-oriented, solutions-first mindset.

A great plus

  • Prior experience with U.S. permit sets and local authority submission processes.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam for redline coordination and document review.
  • Ability to work quickly without sacrificing drawing quality or coordination.
  • Long-term mindset and genuine interest in becoming a trusted, ongoing collaborator as workload grows.
  • Comfort supporting a solo principal who needs autonomous, dependable production support.
