We are currently looking for a part-time Architectural Designer / Semi Senior Draftsperson to join one of our client’s teams and support on high-end single-family residential projects across New Jersey.
The ideal candidate has experience working with U.S.-based architecture firms and is comfortable contributing to Design Development (DD) and Construction Documents (CDs). The role focuses on AutoCAD production and technical documentation for custom residential projects, working from existing drawings, redlines, and project standards.

What you will do

Support the development of Design Development (DD) and Construction Document (CD) packages for high-end residential projects.
Produce and revise architectural drawings in AutoCAD.
Develop and update SketchUp models as required.
Incorporate redlines, markups, and client comments into drawing sets.
Prepare floor plans, elevations, sections, details, and construction documentation.
Coordinate architectural drawings with structural information and consultant requirements.
Maintain consistency with established office drafting standards and project documentation practices.
Assist with permit and construction drawing production.
Perform drawing revisions throughout project development and construction documentation phases.
Communicate with the McAfee Architects team regarding project progress, questions, and technical coordination needs.
Review project information and reference drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Support ongoing residential projects as workload demands fluctuate.
Manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Maintain clear, timely, and consistent communication with the internal team.
Use short screen-share recordings to ask questions or flag issues, minimizing unnecessary meetings.
Collaborate to ensure alignment, progress, and on-time delivery.
Provide regular updates and meet agreed-upon milestones while maintaining quality standards.

What you'll need to know

A degree in Architecture or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in architectural production.
Strong AutoCAD proficiency.
Strong SketchUp proficiency.
Previous U.S. residential architecture experience.
Experience producing DD and CD sets.
Ability to read and coordinate architectural and structural drawings.
Strong attention to detail and documentation standards.
Advanced English level.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining quality.
Clear, proactive, and consistent communication.

A great plus

Lumion experience.
Experience with custom luxury residential projects.
Familiarity with permitting and construction documentation processes in the U.S.
Comfort integrating into a small, relationship-driven architecture firm and working independently with minimal supervision.
